By manipulating the law and using any means possible to achieve his goals, prosecutor Baek had built an impressive career. His meteoric rise had been noticed by his superiors and he was about to have his image polished by having them arrange a marriage to a woman from a prominent family (presented as a “golden opportunity”).

This was also an opportunity for Baek to cut ties with a particular thug that he had done business with for years but when Baek did this, he didn’t expect the thug’s reaction. The thug had been there for Baek through thick and thin, and when he found out about Baek’s marriage plans, he felt betrayed — which turned quickly into subdued rage.
